Keelon Russell accounts for four touchdowns as the Crimson Tide turns takeaways into points and pulls away after halftime

STARKVILLE, Miss. | Keelon Russell accounted for four touchdowns and No. 7 Alabama converted four Mississippi State turnovers into 21 points in a 56-23 victory Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium.

Russell threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another as Alabama (5-0, 3-0 SEC) won its first ranked matchup of the season. The Crimson Tide led 28-17 at halftime before putting the game away with four second-half touchdowns.

Alabama finished with 483 yards of offense and held No. 16 Mississippi State (4-1, 2-1) to 18 yards rushing.

Turnovers fuel Alabama's fast start

Alabama scored twice in the opening nine minutes after its defense created turnovers on Mississippi State's first two possessions.

London Simmons forced and recovered a fumble to set up Russell's 15-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Coleman-Williams. Dijon Lee Jr. followed with a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown, quickly making it 14-0.

Mississippi State responded behind quarterback Kamario Taylor, whose touchdown passes to Anthony Evans III and Zion Ragins twice helped pull the Bulldogs within seven.

Russell countered with a 17-yard touchdown run, and Trae'shawn Brown scored from 7 yards out before Mississippi State closed the half with a field goal.

Alabama took a 28-17 advantage into the break.

Avery Glynn and Michelle Fumagalli earn MOP honors as the Tigers win three of four events at home

AUBURN, Ala. | No. 3 Auburn won three of four events and received Most Outstanding Performer honors from senior Avery Glynn and junior Michelle Fumagalli in a 12-7 victory over No. 5 SMU on Saturday at the Auburn University Equestrian Center.

The Tigers took Flat 4-1, Reining 3-1-1 and Horsemanship 3-2. SMU earned its lone event victory in Fences, 3-2.

“Today was a great win against a top-five team,” Auburn coach Jessica Braswell said. “SMU is really tough.”

Glynn sets the tone in Flat

Glynn led Auburn's strong start, scoring an 86 to defeat SMU's Caroline Signorino, who posted a 75.5. The performance earned Glynn MOP honors.

Junior Kate Hagerty edged Rachel Brandt 79.5-79 to open the event, while freshman Taylor Cawley added a 66.5-62 victory.

Junior Ariana Marnell completed Auburn's four-point performance with a 79.5-71.5 win.

Auburn Falls 24-14 at No. 17 Tennessee as DeSean Bishop Rushes for 220 yards, 3 TDs

Tigers force two turnovers and take a halftime lead, but Bishop powers Tennessee's second-half comeback before the Volunteers make a critical fourth-down stop.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. | DeSean Bishop rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns as No. 17 Tennessee erased a halftime deficit and defeated Auburn 24-14 Saturday at Neyland Stadium.

Bishop carried 34 times and accounted for 220 of Tennessee's 323 total yards as the Volunteers leaned heavily on their running game after trailing 7-3 at halftime.

Auburn (3-2, 1-2 SEC) forced turnovers on consecutive Tennessee offensive plays late in the first half and pulled within three points in the fourth quarter. But Tennessee (4-1, 1-1) stopped the Tigers on fourth-and-1 before Bishop's third touchdown helped seal the victory.

“Our guys will continue to fight and scrap,” Auburn coach Alex Golesh said. “To win games on the road, the margins are even tighter.”

Auburn defense creates first-half opportunities

Auburn struggled to establish its offense early, gaining 25 yards in the first quarter while dealing with penalties and poor field position.

The Tigers' defense kept Tennessee in check, recording four tackles for loss and holding the Volunteers to 42 yards in the opening quarter. Da'Shawn Womack highlighted the effort with back-to-back sacks.

Tennessee broke through in the second quarter when Cooper Ranvier kicked a 36-yard field goal for a 3-0 lead.

Auburn's defense then generated the momentum-changing plays that allowed the Tigers to move in front.

Cody Sigler forced a fumble on third-and-1 that Jared Smith recovered. Auburn eventually punted, pinning Tennessee at its 11-yard line.

On Tennessee's next offensive snap, Xavier Atkins intercepted Faizon Brandon and returned possession to Auburn at the Volunteers' 20.

The Tigers capitalized.

Missouri Routs No. 8 Florida 45-17 in Historic Homecoming Statement

Austin Simmons throws for career-high 340 yards, Jamal Roberts erupts for 211 rushing yards as Tigers score 35 straight to overwhelm Gators

COLUMBIA, Mo. | No. 25 Missouri needed a response after its first loss of the season. The Tigers delivered one of the biggest wins in program history.

Austin Simmons threw for a career-high 340 yards and two touchdowns, Jamal Roberts rushed for 211 yards and three scores, and Missouri scored 35 consecutive points to dismantle No. 8 Florida 45-17 Saturday at Faurot Field.

Missouri (4-1, 1-1 SEC) turned a 10-10 game into a 45-10 rout, handing previously unbeaten Florida (4-1, 2-1) its first loss before the Tigers' 23rd consecutive sellout crowd at Memorial Stadium.

The 28-point margin was Missouri's largest ever against an AP top-10 opponent, surpassing its 46-25 victory over No. 8 Southern California in 1976.

It was Missouri's first victory over a top-10 opponent since beating No. 7 Ohio State in the 2023 Cotton Bowl, its first such regular-season victory since winning at No. 7 Georgia in 2013 and its first at home since upsetting No. 3 Oklahoma in 2010.

Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz credited the Homecoming crowd and his team's response following its first setback.

“What an awesome win for our community, for our state and, more importantly, for our team,” Drinkwitz said. “We needed to be a tough team. That's exactly what we did.”

Golden Gophers erase halftime deficit with 13 unanswered points as three second-half turnovers doom Wolverines in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS | Michigan carried a seven-point lead and the momentum of two interceptions into halftime Saturday. By the end of the 100th battle for the Little Brown Jug, Minnesota had turned both around.

The Golden Gophers scored 13 unanswered points in the second half and capitalized on three Michigan turnovers to defeat the Wolverines 20-14 at Huntington Bank Stadium.

Michigan (3-2) led 14-7 at halftime after Nathaniel Staehling returned an interception 79 yards for a touchdown, but the Wolverines were shut out over the final two quarters and finished with fewer than 200 yards of offense.

Minnesota improved to 4-1 by controlling possession after halftime and taking advantage of a Michigan offense that struggled to sustain drives.

The Wolverines' defense created opportunities early.

Nemeth Scores Twice as Northwestern Blanks Ohio State 5-0

Wildcats improve to 11-0 behind Nemeth’s first career two-goal game and Boon’s eighth shutout of the season

COLUMBUS, Ohio | Nadia Nemeth scored twice for the first multi-goal game of her career, and No. 1 Northwestern remained unbeaten with a 5-0 victory over Ohio State on Friday in Big Ten field hockey action.

Northwestern (11-0, 2-0 Big Ten) earned its first conference road victory of the season and extended its winning streak against Ohio State to seven games. The Buckeyes fell to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

The Wildcats have overwhelmed opponents during their latest three-game stretch, following a 7-0 victory at UC Davis and a 6-0 win over Michigan State with another five-goal performance.

Nemeth led the attack with two goals, doubling her career total in one afternoon. Ashley Sessa, Jess Freedman and Raquel Hofmeister also scored as Northwestern put 13 of its 18 shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Juliana Boon made three saves for her eighth shutout of the season.

Northwestern needed less than six minutes to take control.

Sessa opened the scoring off a penalty corner, redirecting an Olivia Bent-Cole shot into the net for her eighth goal of the season. The goal moved Sessa into a tie with Tromp for the team lead.

Just 90 seconds later, Laura Salamanca delivered a centering pass to Nemeth, who finished for a 2-0 advantage.

Nemeth has now scored in consecutive games after snapping a scoring drought dating to October 2024.

The Wildcats struck again in the second quarter. Tromp moved the ball forward to Kiera Sack, who found Freedman for a finish in the 22nd minute and a 3-0 Northwestern lead.

Northwestern carried that advantage into halftime after outshooting Ohio State 9-2 and preventing the Buckeyes from earning a penalty corner during the opening half.

Ohio State tried to generate momentum immediately after halftime, earning consecutive penalty corners, but Northwestern's defense and Boon turned away both opportunities.

Nemeth delivered again in the 36th minute, finding open space and converting a feed from Krys for her second goal and a 4-0 lead.

Northwestern quickly added another. On the ensuing sequence, Sessa worked past two defenders to help create an opportunity for Hofmeister, who finished for her second career goal and pushed the margin to 5-0.

Ohio State goalkeepers Maddie Stevens and Avery Alleva combined for eight saves, but the Buckeyes could not slow a Northwestern attack that has scored 18 goals over its past three games while allowing none.

The Wildcats have now posted three consecutive shutouts while strengthening an unbeaten start that has carried them to the No. 1 national ranking.

Northwestern faces a quick turnaround with another Big Ten road test against No. 15 Michigan on Sunday, Oct. 4, in Ann Arbor. The match is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT and will stream on B1G+.
