Alabama Football: Keelon Russell Accounts for 5 TDs as No. 8 Crimson Tide Crush South Carolina 49-18

Russell throws for 365 yards and four touchdowns, adds another score on the ground as Alabama rolls up 489 yards and improves to 4-0

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. | Keelon Russell threw deep, ran when needed and spent much of Saturday night turning South Carolina's defense into a highlight reel for Alabama.

Russell accounted for a career-high 400 yards of total offense and five touchdowns as No. 8 Alabama overwhelmed South Carolina 49-18 before a sold-out crowd at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The Crimson Tide (4-0, 2-0 SEC) scored 35 points in the first half, generated 489 yards of total offense and produced eight plays of at least 20 yards in another explosive performance.

Russell completed 21 of 27 passes for 365 yards and four touchdowns while adding 35 yards and a score on the ground.

Three of his touchdown passes covered more than 30 yards.

By halftime, Alabama had effectively taken control.

RUSSELL IGNITES ALABAMA OFFENSE

After Alabama's defense stopped South Carolina on downs, Russell needed one play to make the Gamecocks pay.

He connected with Lotzeir Brooks for a 75-yard touchdown, giving Alabama a 7-0 lead with 5:53 remaining in the first quarter.

It was only the beginning.
