Amely Bochaton shoots a 6-under 66 to lead individually as the Crimson Tide opens the tournament with a 280
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. | Amely Bochaton shot a 6-under 66 to take the individual lead and help Alabama women's golf finish atop the team standings after the opening round of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational.
The Crimson Tide shot a 6-under 280 at Blessings Golf Club, 11 strokes ahead of second-place Arkansas at 3 over. Alabama placed three golfers in the top 10 and all five in the top 20.
Bochaton finished two strokes ahead of a pair of golfers tied for second and led the field on par-3 holes with a 2.25 scoring average.
Petitcolas, Johansson strengthen Alabama's start
Manon Petitcolas shot a 3-under 69 to tie for fourth in her second collegiate tournament. She led the field on par-5 holes with a 4.25 scoring average.
Alice Johansson added an even-par 72 to tie for ninth.
Natchanok Tunnwannarux shot a 1-over 73 to tie for 13th, while Tiphani Knight carded a 3-over 75 to tie for 18th.
Crimson Tide controls scoring averages
Alabama posted the field's best team scoring averages across each hole classification, averaging 2.75 on par 3s, 4.10 on par 4s and 4.75 on par 5s.
The balanced opening round gave the Crimson Tide the team lead and Bochaton the individual advantage entering the next round at Blessings Golf Club.
