GAINESVILLE, Fla. | LaNorris Sellers accounted for five touchdowns, throwing four scoring passes and rushing for another, as South Carolina pulled away in the second half to upset No. 16 Florida 38-19 on Saturday.
Sellers delivered one of his strongest performances in nearly two years, completing 23 of 35 passes for 279 yards while leading the Gamecocks to a statement Southeastern Conference road victory.
The South Carolina quarterback connected with Nyck Harbor, Mazeo Bennett Jr., Donovan Murph and Lex Cyrus for touchdowns, repeatedly exploiting Florida's defense and keeping the Gamecocks' offense moving.
South Carolina converted 10 of 16 third-down opportunities, sustaining drives and controlling key stretches of the contest.
Sellers also delivered a physical highlight in the third quarter, powering through a defender on a 3-yard run before scoring on the following play to strengthen South Carolina's grip on the game.
Harbor led the Gamecocks' receiving corps with four catches for 83 yards and a touchdown. South Carolina finished with 393 total yards, including 279 through the air.
The Gamecocks' defense complemented Sellers' performance by forcing three turnovers and disrupting Florida's offensive rhythm.
Vicari Swain and Justin Okoronkwo each intercepted a pass, while Dylan Stewart forced two fumbles. Shawn Murphy recovered one of the loose balls.
Peyton Williams led South Carolina with seven tackles as the Gamecocks recorded three sacks and six tackles for loss.
The victory showcased South Carolina's ability to capitalize on defensive takeaways while maintaining offensive efficiency against a nationally ranked opponent.
For Florida, the defeat exposed costly turnovers and defensive breakdowns that allowed the Gamecocks to take control after halftime.
Sellers' five-touchdown performance highlighted a convincing road victory that could provide South Carolina with momentum as its SEC schedule continues.
