After a record-breaking junior season that helped deliver a national championship to the Auburn Tigers, Jackson Koivun earns Golfweek’s 2026 Amateur Player of the Year award and announces his move to the PGA Tour.
AUBURN, Ala. | The trophy case continues to fill for Jackson Koivun.
The Auburn All-American added another major honor to his remarkable collegiate rΓ©sumΓ© Friday when he was named Golfweek’s 2026 Amateur Player of the Year, further cementing his place among the most accomplished golfers in NCAA history.
Koivun’s award comes on the heels of a dominant junior season in which he won six tournaments in 14 starts, helping lead the Auburn Tigers to their second NCAA national championship in three seasons. His consistency was equally impressive, producing eight top-five finishes, 12 top-10 finishes, and a staggering 68.20 scoring average.
That scoring mark shattered the previous NCAA single-season record established by Colin Morikawa by more than four-tenths of a stroke, highlighting one of the most dominant campaigns ever recorded in collegiate golf.
Koivun’s latest recognition adds to an unprecedented awards sweep. Earlier this spring, he captured the Haskins Award, Ben Hogan Award, and Jack Nicklaus Award, becoming the first male golfer in history to win all three honors more than once. He also earned First Team All-America recognition from PING and Golfweek, was named First Team All-SEC, and secured a third consecutive SEC Golfer of the Year award.
The announcement capped a landmark day for Auburn golf. Earlier Friday, Koivun revealed he would forgo his final season of collegiate eligibility and begin his professional career on the PGA Tour this summer.
His decision marks the end of one of the most successful collegiate careers in modern golf. From national championships to record-breaking scoring averages and multiple national player-of-the-year honors, Koivun leaves Auburn as one of the sport’s most decorated amateur competitors.
As he prepares to make the leap to professional golf, expectations will be high. Yet based on his collegiate accomplishments, many believe Koivun is positioned to become one of the PGA Tour’s next breakout stars.
For Auburn fans, Friday served as both a celebration and a farewell—one that recognized a player whose impact on the program will be remembered long after his final collegiate round.
