Alabama Ace Myles Upchurch Earns Baseball America Freshman All-America First Team Honors

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. | Alabama baseball's remarkable resurgence received another national spotlight this week as freshman right-handed pitcher Myles Upchurch was named a First Team Freshman All-American by Baseball America, further cementing his status as one of the nation's premier young arms.

The prestigious recognition marks the second Freshman All-America honor of Upchurch's collegiate career after he previously earned the distinction from the National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) on June 8.

Upchurch was one of just 32 freshmen nationwide selected by Baseball America, highlighting an exceptional debut season that helped propel Alabama back to college baseball's biggest stage.

A Breakout Freshman Campaign

The rookie right-hander emerged as one of the Southeastern Conference's most dependable starters, becoming a cornerstone of the Crimson Tide rotation throughout the 2026 campaign.

• 72.0 innings pitched
• 78 strikeouts
• 41 walks
• 16 appearances, including 15 starts

His 3.75 ERA was the lowest among Alabama's starting pitchers, and his consistency on the mound played a significant role in the Crimson Tide's first Men's College World Series berth since 1999.

Among the Nation's Elite Freshmen

Upchurch's durability also separated him from his peers. He was one of only six NCAA Division I freshmen to make at least 15 starts during the season, a testament to both his maturity and reliability.

Prior to postseason play, the standout hurler earned a place on the SEC All-Freshman Team, recognizing his impact in one of college baseball's toughest conferences.
