Former West Virginia standout and two-time WCGA Scholastic All-American Emma Wehry arrives on the Plains as a polished competitor, proven student-athlete, and culture fit ahead of the 2026 season.
As the countdown to the 2026 collegiate gymnastics season continues, Auburn Gymnastics is welcoming a transfer who embodies both competitive excellence and personal clarity. Emma Wehry, a junior transfer from West Virginia, arrives on the Plains with high-level experience, academic distinction, and a renewed hunger to compete after overcoming injury.
A native of Klingerstown, Pennsylvania, Wehry spent three seasons at West Virginia, competing in 2023 and 2024 before sitting out last season due to injury. When healthy, her résumé speaks loudly: a career-high 9.9 on vault (achieved three times in 2023), a 9.875 on bars at Illinois in 2024, and a career-best 9.9 on beam at Minnesota. She also competed all-around during the 2024 campaign, showcasing her versatility.
But numbers only tell part of the story.
“My first visit to Auburn was really special and allowed me to see my aspirations and goals as an achievable reality,” Wehry said. “The coaching staff, the girls, the culture and the mission of the program aligned with what I was looking for. I knew it was the right choice as soon as I visited.”
That alignment — culturally and competitively — was key for a transfer who knew exactly what she wanted in her next chapter.
📚 Excellence Beyond the Mat
Wehry’s impact extends well beyond competition. She is a two-time WCGA Scholastic All-American and a member of the prestigious Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society. Academically, she brings a general business background and is entering a graduate program in hospitality management — a path that reflects her long-term entrepreneurial goals.
“General business gave me a strong foundation,” she explained. “Hospitality management fits where I want to go — eventually owning my own coffee shop or hotel.”
That vision dates back to childhood, when her dream job was — fittingly — owning a coffee shop near the beach. It remains the dream today.
🧡 Culture, Motivation and ‘Swag Surfing’
On campus, Wehry has quickly embraced Auburn traditions, singling out “Swag Surfing” as her favorite.
“It’s so much fun,” she said. “It’s definitely been the highlight of all the sporting events I’ve been to so far.”
Her motivation, however, comes from closer to home — and closer to the gym.
“My teammates keep me motivated on hard days,” Wehry said. “They’re the best support system and always keep a smile on my face.”
She also credits her older sister, Grace, as her biggest role model — someone who exemplifies balance, discipline, and dedication.
🤸♀️ Gymnastics Identity & Competitive Edge
Wehry is refreshingly candid about the sport. She has no superstitions, openly admits bars is her least favorite — and toughest — event, and doesn’t shy away from the grind that comes with elite gymnastics.
Her biggest pet peeve? Rips.
“Unfortunately, I deal with them quite frequently,” she said with a laugh.
Despite the physical toll, her mindset remains growth-oriented. Asked what advice she would give younger gymnasts, Wehry offered a message that reflects her own journey:
“Don’t set limits on yourself. Push yourself relentlessly, don’t fear failure, and use mistakes as motivation.”
🎯 Eyes on the Prize
As for the season ahead, Wehry’s focus is clear — and ambitious.
“Our main goal this year is to be at the Final Four.”
With her blend of experience, academic leadership, and team-first mentality, Emma Wehry arrives at Auburn not just as a transfer — but as a competitor ready to contribute to championship aspirations.
For Auburn, she represents more than depth on the roster. She represents belief, resilience, and a clear vision of what’s possible.
