Volunteers overpower Gamecocks with dominant paint scoring and career performances from Estrella, Okpara, and Gillespie.
COLUMBIA, S.C. | The No. 23/25 Tennessee Volunteers capped their SEC road slate in commanding fashion Tuesday night, rolling past South Carolina 78–59 at Colonial Life Arena in a performance defined by physical dominance, efficient offense, and a relentless interior attack.
Despite playing without freshman forward Nate Ament, the team’s leading rebounder and second-leading scorer, Tennessee (21-9, 11-6 SEC) controlled the contest from the opening minutes and never surrendered the lead. The Volunteers led for 39:12 of game time and built a cushion that reached 20 points late in the second half.
Estrella Leads Volunteers’ Offensive Surge

The Scarborough, Maine native also contributed seven rebounds and three assists, providing a balanced stat line that fueled Tennessee’s offensive rhythm.
Senior forward Felix Okpara matched his career high with 20 points, converting 10 of 14 shots from the field while grabbing eight rebounds to lead all players on the glass.
The Volunteers’ interior dominance was overwhelming. Tennessee finished with a staggering 56–18 advantage in paint points, a statistic that underscored the team’s physical edge throughout the night.
