Ground Game and Defense Carry Michigan Past Nebraska in Hard-Fought Victory

ANN ARBOR, Mich. | The Michigan Wolverines relied on their trademark physicality Saturday, grinding out a tough Big Ten win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers behind a relentless rushing attack and stingy defense. The victory kept Michigan’s unbeaten conference record intact while sending an early statement about its championship aspirations.

Running backs Donovan Edwards and Kalel Mullings powered the Wolverines’ offense, combining for more than 150 yards on the ground. Michigan’s offensive line controlled the trenches, wearing down Nebraska’s front seven and opening lanes for key first downs in the second half.

Quarterback J.J. McCarthy added balance through efficient passing, extending drives, and keeping the Cornhuskers’ defense honest.

Defense Locks Down Huskers

On the other side of the ball, Michigan’s defense smothered Nebraska’s offense, holding the Cornhuskers under 300 total yards and forcing two turnovers. Linebacker Junior Colson and edge rusher Derrick Moore anchored the effort, recording multiple sacks and critical third-down stops.

Nebraska fought to stay in striking distance with a late touchdown drive, but couldn’t overcome Michigan’s control of the game’s pace. The Wolverines sealed the win with a defensive stand in the fourth quarter, preventing any chance of a Husker comeback.
